Denegra with Volcanic Base

Okay, so after a nice long conversation with Adam last night, he decided that he did not like the greys, due to his Marine Army being all grey. SO - I repainted the Denegra model to have an "emerald" green cloak, and I changed the base up to give the model more "pop"

The finished effect is absolutely amazing.

Yes, red and green - but they are some of the best contrasting colors you can get!

The cloak was painted a 50/50 mix of Dark Angels and Snot Green. Then highlighted with Snot green, and then washed with Thraka Green. The overall effect is a nice dark green, with very tame highlights.

The Base was painted in fortress grey, washed with a Blood Red Wash, and then I painted the black "cracks" to break up the red a bit. Overall, it makes the model really stand out, and I cannot wait to see an army with bases like these. This type of basing would work really well for a cracked "Snow" base. Substitute the Blood Red wash with a Shadow Grey wash, re-drybrush with Skull white, and then paint Shadow Grey "cracks" onto the base for a "Glacier" look and feel.

Overall - I am way more impressed with this model now than withthe straight greys!
